Trent Limited has fallen 50% from all-time high of 8345 on 14 October 2024. Analysis of 50 DMA, 200 DMA, RSI, support levels, growth outlook and what investors can do now as of 24 February 2026.

Trent Limited after a massive correction – Opportunity emerging?

Trent Limited, a part of the prestigious Tata Group, is one of India’s fastest-growing retail companies. It operates popular fashion and lifestyle formats such as Westside, Zudio and Star Bazaar. In recent years, Trent has been a market favourite due to aggressive store expansion and strong sales growth, especially driven by Zudio. However, after a massive rally, the stock has gone through a serious correction. Is this a buying opportunity or a warning sign? Let’s break it down.

Fall Period – What Changed?

After an extremely sharp rally in 2023–24, the stock started it downward trajectory since October 2024. The fall came after Trent had reached excessive valuations, trading at premium multiples. Growth stocks often see sharp corrections when expectations cool. After a multi-fold rally, institutional investors booked profits. Markets are questioning whether aggressive store expansion can sustain current growth rates. Moreover, retail and discretionary stocks tend to correct more during uncertain macro phases.

Magnitude of fall

From the all time high of 8345, Trent has corrected by approximately 53% while it is 37% in case of 52 week high of 6261. An important point to keep in mind is that the stock is just 7.8% away from its yearly low of 3645. In order to reclaim its yearly high, Trent needs another 59% rise while in case of all time high, approximately 112% up move is required. In short, it is quite a steep climb ahead!

Technical Analysis

Moving Averages

The current price is near 50 DMA (4056) which is the short-term support zone. The price is also below 200 DMA (4856) which indicates long-term trend is under pressure. When price trades below 200 DMA after a big rally, stocks often consolidate for months, attempt gradual base formation and face resistance on every rally. As of now, the structure suggests trend repair, not confirmed reversal.

RSI (Relative Strength Index)

With RSI at 41, the stock is close to the lower end of neutral zone (40-60). Though the momentum is weak, it is not oversold (<30) yet. So, there is a mild bearish bias, but no panic-level selling.

Correction based entry

If we consider correction from top to bottom as of today, the range would be 2616 points. A one third recovery of 872 points would give early recovery signal. The stock is still below the 1/3 rd level of 4517 and would require a recovery of 15% to reach there. To reach the strong recovery zone of 4953, an upside of 26% would be needed. Trend reversal confirmation would only come above the 2/3 rd level of 5389. If the 52 week low of 3645 breaks, yearly structure weakens further.

Business Outlook

One of the biggest positives for Trent is a strong expansion of the affordable fast-fashion business, Zudio. It is backed by the credibility of Tata group. Moreover, the scope of organized retail in India is very big.

In terms of negatives, the valuations are still expensive even after correction. Even though there is scope, there is still the risk of execution. With new entrants in the market, the competitive pressure is also there.

What can Investors Do?

Long term investors with a view of 3-5 years, can accumulate gradually near strong supports. The quarterly earnings also need to be closely monitored in order to track the execution of the company. Swing traders can buy near 3900–4000 with strict stop-loss or wait for breakout above 4400 with strong volumes. Existing investors at higher levels should avoid emotional averaging and wait for base formation.

Trent is no longer overheated but it has not confirmed a fresh uptrend yet. Patience and staggered strategy is need of the hour. The stock may need time to build a base before any sustainable rally. The next few weeks are technically crucial.
